About the Role

The teen mental health crisis demands real solutions for real humans in today’s ever‑shifting landscape. Kin Therapy is building exactly that.

Teens today face unprecedented mental health challenges, yet many existing Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs) are outdated, inaccessible, and disconnected from the realities of their lives. Long waitlists, prohibitive costs, and a lack of sleek tech push teens and families away from care just when they need it most.

Kin Therapy is leading the way in IOP development. We’ve created a virtual IOP that integrates live therapy, peer connections, and AI‑enhanced support. Our model fits seamlessly into teens’ schedules, reaches them wherever they are, and utilizes tech to enhance connection instead of replace it. Most importantly, teens stay engaged because we actually encourage their love of tech (thoughtfully and intentionally, of course)

Remember that one adult who “got it” when you were younger? The person who listened without judgement, kept things real, and turned awkward group moments into genuine connection?

That’s who we’re looking for. And we’ll give you the tools and support to become even better.

What You’ll Actually Do

Kin Therapy’s Intensive Outpatient Program (IOPs) is a combination of individual, family, and group therapy. Managing a virtual group is no easy task. While our therapists handle the clinical side, we need someone who can manage the virtual space, keep the energy authentic, encourage engagement, and ensure everyone feels included and safe.

That’s your role: part tech support, part cheerleader, part emotional safety net.

  • Run ice‑breakers, mindfulness starters, polls, breakout rooms, and more
  • Moderate the chat and cameras to keep teens engaged.
  • Track attendance in real time; text/call absentees within 5 min to reduce drop‑outs.
  • Document high‑level notes from the groups using simple Electronic Health Record templates
  • Lead one psycho‑educational micro‑lesson/week under supervision (e.g., the food‑mood connection).
  • Execute safety protocols and workflows (e.g., risk screening, dispatch safety workflows, ensure guardian contact)

You’re a Great Fit If

  • You have a BA/BS in psychology, social work, education, or equivalent
  • You are actively pursuing a graduate degree in psychology, social work, or education.
  • You’ve done least 1 year of direct adolescent work (school support, residential aide, camp counseling, crisis support, etc).
  • You are fluent with Zoom, Google Workspace, Slack, and white‑board apps.
  • Reliable WiFi connection when meeting with clients
  • Familiarity with and willingness to use cloud-based communication software—Gmail, Slack, Zoom, Dropbox–in addition to EMR and outcomes survey software on a daily basis
  • Work authorized in the United States and native or bilingual English proficiency
  • 1099 position
