If weekly therapy isn't creating change, if your teen has stopped functioning in key areas (school, friendships, activities), or if you're worried about safety—intensive treatment provides the level of support needed to create momentum. IOP is ideal when your teen needs more than weekly therapy but doesn't require 24/7 care.
Depression makes everything feel pointless, including treatment. Our clinicians are skilled at engaging reluctant teens. Virtual delivery helps—participating from bed with the camera off is okay at first. We meet teens where they are and build from there. Many initially resistant teens become active participants once they connect with peers.
Yes. Our sessions are scheduled after school hours. For teens who are struggling to attend school, we can work with school counselors on accommodations. The goal is to support functioning in all areas of life, including education.
CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns. DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) adds skills for managing intense emotions and distress tolerance. We use both approaches based on what your teen needs—many teens benefit from elements of each.
Yes. With your consent, we maintain regular communication with your teen's psychiatrist or medication provider. Therapy and medication work best when coordinated. If your teen isn't seeing a psychiatrist but might benefit from a medication evaluation, we can provide referrals.
We don't just discharge and hope for the best. Before program completion, we create a step-down plan—usually transitioning to weekly individual or group therapy. Many teens continue with a Kin therapist for maintenance. The intensive foundation makes ongoing therapy more effective.
