When the past keeps showing up in the present—nightmares, avoidance, emotional storms—your teen needs specialized support. Our trauma-informed program builds safety and resilience.
Building safety, learning regulation, and processing at a pace that doesn't overwhelm.
Before processing trauma, teens need to feel safe. We build stability, predictability, and coping skills before going deeper.
Flashbacks and triggers happen. We teach concrete techniques to stay present and regulate the nervous system in real time.
Trauma processing isn't rushed. We follow your teen's lead, building capacity before approaching harder material.
Being with other teens who've experienced hard things reduces isolation and shame. "Me too" is powerful medicine.

"After what she went through, I didn't know if she'd ever trust anyone again. The therapists at Kin earned her trust slowly, without pushing."
"The grounding techniques changed everything. When a flashback starts, he actually has tools now. Before, he'd spiral for hours."
"Being with other teens who understood—that was huge. She felt less alone, less broken. The isolation had been almost as hard as the trauma."
"They never pushed him to talk about things before he was ready. That respect for his pace made all the difference."
"Virtual was perfect for him. He'd never have opened up in a strange building. Being at home made it feel safer."
"The 3x/week structure meant she wasn't processing alone all week. When things came up, support was never far away."

Within 48 hoursWe track trauma symptoms because healing should be visible.
Never before they're ready. We follow a "stabilization first" approach—building safety, coping skills, and regulation before any processing of traumatic memories. Many teens make significant progress just from the stabilization phase. If and when they're ready to go deeper, we follow their lead.
That's completely okay and actually common. Trauma treatment doesn't require detailed disclosure. We focus on symptoms and coping rather than retelling the story. Many teens find it easier to participate when they know they won't be pressured to share details they're not comfortable with.
Our groups are carefully facilitated to avoid "trauma dumping" or triggering content. We focus on coping skills and connection, not graphic sharing. Teens often find immense relief in being with others who understand what it's like to struggle without having to explain their whole story.
Our clinicians are trained to recognize and respond to trauma responses. We teach grounding techniques early and use them throughout treatment. Getting triggered can actually be therapeutic when your teen learns they can move through it safely—it builds confidence that they can handle difficult moments.
No formal diagnosis is required. Whether your teen has PTSD, complex trauma, or trauma-related symptoms without a formal diagnosis, our approach focuses on what they're experiencing now and building skills to manage it. Our clinical team can help clarify what's going on during the assessment process.
We create a thoughtful transition plan before the program ends. Many teens continue with individual therapy for ongoing support—some with a Kin therapist, others with outside providers. The skills learned in IOP create a foundation that makes continued therapy more effective.
